Handmade jewelry: it may not be as expensive as you thought

Like most women, I am a fan of jewelry. Bijouterie, bijouterie or bright and sophisticated local jewellery store Victoria BC, I'm not worried.

Until my recently engaged job, and a lot of research, I researched everything from jewelry designers to my engagement ring and wholesale jewelry stores to my bridesmaid jewelry, I didn't know the different types of jewelry and where they came from

I have always been one of those frequent jewelry chains and gathering many pieces of fashion jewelry to add to my growing collection. I’ve often visited jewelry design galleries and high-end jewelry stores just to leave me empty-handed and feeling too scared to ask about prices, what so much more to try a piece.

When my fiancé (finally) suggested, we undertook a mission to find the perfect engagement ring. I wanted something original and unique in its class, but I couldn't pay that huge price and I wanted it within a short period of time. (I mean, I have to have something to show, right?) I thought this meant I was limited to cheaper chain stores, where I had to buy something that was not original, but we would explore every option.

We called and made several appointments with various jewelers that I had been admiring for a while. And boy, am I glad I did.

Arranging an individual appointment with a jeweler is an exciting experience! Most of the jewelry designers we met were incredibly kind and patient with us, explaining everything from the types of stones available to the different varieties of metal I could choose.

But best of all: the price! I was pleasantly surprised that creating a piece of handmade jewelry was no more expensive than buying a piece from an exhausted chain of stores, and I could have a ring exactly as I wanted. Unique in its class!

It's so exciting to have an engagement ring that I know is like no one else out there. It's a much better quality than a cheap chain bearing ring, and it's very special to be able to work one by one with the maker of my handmade piece.
